Arizona has reciprocal state taxation arrangements with several other states, did you know? That the majority of seasonal workers in Arizona are not subject to state income tax withholding?

Arizona Wage and Hour Laws

Arizona employers must pay at least \$12.15 an hour to covered employees. The minimum wage is adjusted annually for inflation. Employers can pay tipped employees cash wages of at least $9.15 an hour. Arizona employers can average tips over the course of a payroll period.

Arizona Payroll for Employers

Employers in Arizona are required to pay wages at least twice a month. Payments must be made within five working days after the end of the pay month and no more than 16 days apart. Overtime or exception pay must be paid within 15 days after the date of receipt.

 Arizona Unemployment:
Taxable Wage Base ($000)                              7,000

New Employer Rate (% Taxable Wages)        2.0

Employee Tax Rate ( % Taxable Wages)       None

Arizona Income Tax Withholding

Employers are required by the Arizona Tax Act of 1987 to withhold state income tax from residents’ and non-residents’ earnings and pay the amounts withheld to the Arizona Department of Revenue.

California, the District of Columbia, Indiana, Oregon, and Virginia have reciprocal taxation arrangements with Arizona. Residents of any of these states who work in Arizona can file Form WEC, Withholding Exemption Certificate, to obtain an exemption from income tax withholding in Arizona.

Part-time or seasonal agricultural workers are exempt unless the workers’ principal duties involve operating mechanically driven devices. However, persons engaged in other agriculture-related employment, which is not seasonal, are subject to withholding.

Arizona Voting Rights:

Employer Right to Schedule Voting Hours           Yes

Pay Deduction for Voting Time Leave             Prohibited

Employers in Arizona are required to give employees enough time off to vote. The quantity of leave time that must be granted is not specified in the law. Employers can grant time off at the beginning or conclusion of a typical work shift, whichever gives employees the greatest time for voting and the least time away from work, unless they have a separate agreement with employees.
